Bastian Hoffmann: How to turn a wooden board into a pressboard

HMKV Video of the Month

On view 1 – 31 July 2016

Bastian Hoffmann on his series „Today I wont to show you...“:
“ 'Today I want to show you...'
The opening sentence of almost all the tutorial videos on the web 2.0 already contains the core of the video series: the sharing of expertise in a globalized and connected world, the image-cultivation of the author and the central idea of the DIY-movement to not only put the product but also the production process of home-made objects into the focus of attention. And lastly, the internet as an inexhaustible, locality-connecting, permanently available source of solutions for problems which occasionally don’t even exist.
This last point has also been at the core of my decision to present conceptually oriented works in the form of tutorial video-clips and by that to both broaden the field of artistic conceptual strategies and also to turn the cultural trend of DIY on the web into a substantial reference point.
The tutorial video-clip as a format to give instructions on the web 2.0 and instructions as an artistic conceptual strategy provide the formal basis of this work.”
