Lecture Performance “Into The Paradise Machine” with Niklas Goldbach and Live Score by Schneider TM

 

The Paradise Machine is a project by Berlin-based artist Niklas Goldbach.In the context of his exhibition, the Lecture Performance Into The Paradise Machine takes place at the cinema of the Dortmunder U on Kleiner Freitag. Music is added with a Live Score by Schneider TM.  At the end the audience has the chance to ask the two artists some questions.

In the 1970s, bungalow complexes were built in the Netherlands for family holidays: Center Parcs were a fusion of Dutch modernist ideals and Catholic moral conservatism. Into The Paradise Machine was filmed in several Center Parcs in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The accompanying performance lecture in form of a live “Voice Over” contrasts the film with impressions from the diary of the Dutch architect Jaap Bakema, who was with his architecture firm Van den Broek and Bakema responsible for the design of the bungalow complexes. Written during his time as a prisoner in a German deportation camp Royallieu-Compiegne in the north of France in 1943, the diary reveals his survial and coping strategies and allows insights in his views on the philosphy of nature, architecture and society.

Niklas Goldbach (*1973 in Witten) works with video and photography. He is based in Berlin.

Schneider TM is a multidimensional music project by Dirk Dresselhaus that oscillates extensively between adventurous electronic pop music and experimental, sometimes improvised freeform music.
