In the week of 19 - 25 September 2016, three different workshops: Video Walk, Urban Games Design and Stop Motion Film, offer participants the opportunity to be creative and exchange ideas.
In every workshop, the surrounding urban space is exploited and creative works of participants' personal views of the city are developed. The project week Doppelter Raum is aimed at people in Dortmund with and without a refugee background who are interested in learning about and trying out artistic techniques or who want to build on their creative work.
The results will be presented on Saturday 24 September 2016 at 15:00 and will be on display in the HMKV until 18:00 on Sunday 25 September 2016. In addition to the opportunity for participants to be creatively active themselves, the workshops also present an opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the other participants.

How does one approach a new city?
In the Urban Games Design workshop, participants work in groups to develop a game in the urban space, in which the participants themselves are the game designers as well as the main characters. In addition to considering and experimenting around strategies, dynamics and goals for the game, the participants of the workshop also deal with the urban space around the Dortmunder U. How can the city, the district, local residents or passers-by be incorporated into the game?
In this workshop by Urbanisten e.V., the urban space is explored or newly opened up, and experiences with the city and newly acquired views of the surroundings, are passed on to visitors through the games developed in the workshop.

What makes up a favorite place? What stories do certain places tell? In the Stop Motion Film workshop, short scenes and stories are told by means of drawings, collages, and photographs. Participants explore the urban space carrying photo camera's and using a collage of photographs and drawings to picture their own self-designed stories which can accompany either real or fantasy places. The stop-motion technique offers many opportunities to develop your own stories and realities. The short films will be created in small groups.
Video Walk with Christiane Wittenborn and Agata Skowronek
Sat 24 September 2016 from 15:00, Presentation
Son 25 September 2016 11:00 – 18:00 Presentation
Unfortunately, the workshop Video Walks is fully booked.
Video Walk is always about multiple perspectives and realities. In this workshop by artists Wittenborn and Skowronek, scenes are created in the urban space, recorded with a video camera and then developed into a tour for visitors. The resulting city tour can be followed through the city by visitors using a tablet. The visitor taking the city tour with the video, gets to experience the urban space on two different levels. Your own walk through the city is mixed with the recorded scenes and experiences displayed in the video.
